I recently watched a very informative documentary "Banking on Bitcoin" on Netflix, I highly recommend watching it before considering an investment in cryptocurrency. Additionally, I recommend researching stories of those who recently lost money in cryptocurrency, don't just rely on the glory stories of those who have done well.
Taxes are in the headlines, and not due to the extension deadline on Monday. The New York Post quotes President Trump as saying that the new tax reform plan will boost the stock market and based off the third quarter closing numbers it looks like that may be the case since all three indexes ended in the green with S&P 500 and Nasdaq hitting record highs.
The US House of Representatives passed a version of tax reform this month. The Senate is now working on their version which will also be met with much, if not more, scrutiny. The House's plan is to shrinks the number of tax brackets from seven to four.
