Spring Reset: More Intention, More Strategy, Better Money Energy

Deep Dives

April is Financial Literacy Awareness Month, and there’s no better reminder that understanding your money is more than a responsibility—it’s a form of self-respect, self-trust, and self-love.

As we step into the second quarter, I invite you  to pause, recalibrate, and move forward with intention. Q2 is not about starting over. Get  honest about where you are, refine what needs attention, and recommit to the vision you have for your life.

Spring naturally calls us into renewal. We clear out what feels heavy, refresh what no longer fits, and make room for what’s next. Your finances  and goals deserve that same level of care and intention.

As a working mom, I know how quickly this season fills up. Spring has a way of arriving with a full calendar and even fuller expectations—sports, school programs, volunteer commitments, birthdays, Teacher Appreciation Week, end-of-year events, and somehow summer planning layered on top of it all. It can feel like life speeds up overnight.

And with that pace can come financial and mental overload.

That’s why a reset is so important.

By now, the excitement of January may have settled. Like ours, your life has likely picked back up, routines have gotten fuller, and the goals that once felt front and center may now be sitting quietly in the background. This is normal. This is exactly why Q2 matters.

This is the quarter where clarity meets discipline.

Q2 is  the season to ask yourself:

  • What’s working?
  • What needs to shift?
  • Where do I need support?
  • What do I need to simplify so I can stay focused?

A strong foundation is not built on motivation alone. It’s built through consistency, honest reflection, and the willingness to adjust as life evolves. The first quarter often brings fresh energy, new ideas, and ambitious plans. The second quarter is where you decide what is truly sustainable—and what will actually move you forward.

Check in, get grounded, and be intentional about the direction you’re going. Because when life gets busy, it becomes even more important to have a plan. From birthdays, work initiatives, school demands, to spring wardrobes, and all the “little extras” that quickly become major expenses, this season can test both your budget and your bandwidth.

But when your foundation is solid, the new demands of life do not dictate your future. You stay anchored. You stay focused. And you keep moving toward your goals with confidence.

The first quarter gave me space to rest, realign, and get honest about my values and the changes I needed to make. And one thing I’ve learned is this: growth does not always arrive in bold, dramatic moments. More often, it shows up in the quiet decisions, the small shifts, and the discipline to keep showing up for yourself even when no one else sees it yet.

That is how real transformation happens.

The Power of Community: Normalize the Money Conversation

Recently, I hosted a Girls Night Spring Reset—an intentional space for my girls and I to connect, reflect, and get clear on goals for the season ahead. While the conversations were inspiring on many levels, what stood out most was the power of gathering in community and speaking openly about what we truly want.

We often have no problem discussing career moves, relationships, wellness routines, and personal growth, and even sex! But when it comes to money, the conversation still tends to quiet down. And that silence can be costly. In professional settings, I’ve had conversations with highly educated physicians who share the same desire for money conversations to be more common. Why aren’t we having these discussions? Don’t we all need to better understand options available to us?

Financial literacy gets to be a natural part of how we show up for one another. It should live comfortably in our conversations with friends, siblings, colleagues, and other family members. Because the more openly we talk about money, the more confident, informed, and empowered we become.

This can look like:

  • Sharing what you’re learning
  • Being honest about your financial goals
  • Exchanging tools, resources, and support
  • Creating space for judgment-free conversations about wealth
  • Reflecting on the current financial markets and economy

When we normalize conversations around money, we begin to break cycles of shame and replace them with clarity, strategy, and confidence. We stop treating wealth-building like a private burden and start embracing it as a shared source of growth and possibility.

Action Steps to Reset and Reenergize

1. Schedule Monthly Money Dates

This is a non-negotiable appointment with your financial life. Whether it’s solo or with your partner, create space each month to:

  • Review your spending and savings
  • Track progress toward your goals
  • Make intentional adjustments where needed

Keep it simple. Keep it consistent. And most importantly, we listen and we don’t judge!  You cannot change what you refuse to look at.

2. Revisit Your Goals With Fresh Eyes

Pull those goals back to the front of your mind. The ones you set at the start of the year still matter—but they may need refining.

Ask yourself whether your goals still align with your current priorities and season of life. Refocus your energy on what matters most:

Clarity = confidence= momentum= growth

Growth requires more than good intentions. It requires energy—mentally, emotionally, and financially.

  • What habits are draining you financially?
  • What is draining you mentally and emotionally?
  • What environments help you stay focused and disciplined?
  • Where can you simplify your life so you can protect your peace and your progress?

3. Reconnect With Your Financial Advisor

This is an excellent time for a Q2 check-in. A strategic conversation can help you:

  • Reassess your financial plan
  • Navigate current market conditions
  • Stay aligned with your long-term vision
  • Make informed decisions with greater confidence

You do not have to carry the weight of financial decision-making alone. If you don’t have an advisor, this may be the season to build that relationship.

No More Playing Small

Please know I’m talking to you AND myself when I say; this is your season to think bigger, move smarter, and own your power unapologetically.

Let this be the moment you stop shrinking around money and start leading with vision, intention, and confidence. Wealth is not just something you hope for—it’s something you prepare for, speak on, and step into.

Move into this next quarter grounded, focused, and fully in charge. Let your habits reflect your standards. Let your decisions reflect your values. And let your financial life reflect the person you are becoming.

Financially focused together,

Alicia Harrison
